Travellers on the Move
Just thought I'd provide some extra background to the programmes
The ladies taking part in the programme are in the Primary Health Care Programme in the Blanchardstown Traveller Development Group in Mulhuddart.
They are extraordinary people who show what can be done with courage and determination. They trained for three years to become Community Health Care Workers and graduated with a FETAC Level 5 qualification. You can hear all about the graduation in Programme 3.
The group also produced an Immunization DVD, in conjunction with Engage Ireland, aimed at travellers and last month they appeared on stage in the Project Arts Centre in The Trailer of Bridget Dinnegan".
Johnny Collins was a poet and singer who died in 2007. The Collins family allowed a CD of his songs to be used for the programmes. You can hear Christine Collins talking about her grandfather in Programme 1.
The sig tune is a recording made by Alen MacWeeney of Liam Weldon singing the Blue Tar Road and he kindly allowed me to use it.
