Dave Hughes was talking to broadcast Historian Eddie Bohan about World Radio Day – the importance of radio and an anniversary this year of the first licenced radio station in Ireland in 1923 – 2BP was started by Marconi in Dun Laoghaire. His telegraphy station was burned down in 1922 in Clifden in the civil war by 2 irregulars, and the free state gave Marconi a licence the next year. It lasted 3 days. Fascinating story.
