Success for Phoenix FM programmes in Craol Achievement Awards 2012
Phoenix FM is delighted to announce that we have had great success in
the Craol Achievement Awards, which were presented at the 2012 Craol
Féile in Athlone on the 26th May by the Chief Executive of the
Broadcasting Authority of Ireland Mr Michael O'Keeffe.
This year the station's "Coolmine Therapeutic Community Programme" got a "Distinction"
in the Social Benefit category. Adjudicating panel judges said "This is
a perfect example of a programme that is well researched and shows how
community radio can reach out to the public by explaining how people
work their way through life, getting on with their life and showing the
kind of support that is out there and the great work that organisations
like Coolmine do”.
Coolmine Therapeutic Community is a local Dublin 15 charity with roots
of almost 40 years in the community. Their show on Phoenix FM is a
dynamic programme that communicates with the community about the work
they do, and the overall topic of addiction. This programme is produced,
presented, researched and sound engineered by past clients of Coolmine
Therapeutic Community. The programme is aired every Friday at 11.30 am,
on 92.5 Phoenix FM.
We are also delighted to announce that two other Phoenix FM programmes
got CRAOL Merit certificates. "Young at Heart", got a certificate in
Commissioned Programme category, the programme was described by
adjudicating panel as "a pleasant well produced 'Sound and Vision'
documentary". It explores the activities of the Blanchardstown Active
Retirement Group and the history of the club, the project will be
broadcast on Phoenix FM this summer.
"Online On-Air" got a Merit certificate in Weekly Specialist Speech
category. "A hugely comprehensive and accessible IT show, interesting
for geeks and newbies alike!" - was the comment of the judges.
The Board and management of Phoenix FM would like to take this
opportunity to congratulate all volunteers who are involved in making
these award-winning programmes - both presenting and working behind the
scene. This is a well-deserved recognition of your team work and
commitment!

“I really enjoyed making the programme, as I got to meet so many interesting people along the way and got to find out so many new things about where I live”, - says producer and presenter of the programme Aileen Foley.
Supported by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland under the Sound and Vision Scheme, the “Nature in the City” is produced to the highest standards of programme making.
